Fagor Industrial showroom runner up in the FAD architecture and interior design awards

Fagor Industrial, a Spanish company leader in the provision of integral solutions for the hotel and catering, and laundry industries is among the runner-ups for the FAD Architecture and Interior Design awards with the design of its showroom at the Miguelena installations (Guipuzcoa).

The FAD awards certify that the selected projects offer, in a reliable and proven manner, an extremely high graphic communication, environmental and spatial quality for the enjoyment and welfare of the users. Considering these parameters, the Fagor Industrial Showroom was among the selected works, together with other competitors on the scale of the Giardinetto restaurant in Barcelona, the Mosteiro da Batalha Interpretation Centre in Portugal or the Rubido Romero Foundation in A Coruña.

The creation of the showroom, commissioned to architects, Bárcena and Zufiaur, consists of a demonstration room, which includes all the new items from the Fagor Industrial product catalogue. It is an interactive space that offers the perfect environment for watching the most avant-garde hotel and catering equipment in operation, in a setting designed especially for its versatile and spectacular presentations. A wide corridor crosses the length of the building, giving access to the different exhibition zones, which are separated by a series of oak walls.

Separate from the showroom zone is the cooking demonstrations area. The architects decided to make this area totally independent “to enjoy the Fagor Cooking Experience to the full, and it consists of a small auditorium that offers multiple possibilities”, says Luis Zufiaur, designer and architect of the showroom. Of particular note in this room is the special care taken to guarantee top level audiovisual performance, lighting and acoustics. The result is a markedly contemporary space, using the minimum of materials.

Nevertheless, the prized gem in the design of the showroom is the lighting which highlights the products, making them the true focal point in the installation. The perimeter shell of the room is made of face brick, the finish of which is in contrast to the futuristic line of the Fagor Industrial products and the setting has its own profile, far from passing trends, and moreover requiring minimum maintenance.

“A good design must provide functionality, personality, be adapted to the target audience, coherence, innovation and sustainability, values that perfectly fit with the Fagor Industrial products”, states Luis Zufiaur.

The team of architects that made it into the runners-up of the FAD awards is headed by Javier Bárcena, Raquel Mielgo and Luis Zufiaur, with the collaboration of Aitor Royo, Miren Zufiaur, Pilar Blanco, José Ramón Cueva, Manuel Jiménez, Itziar Regalado, Mirentxu Lafuente and Xabier Lozano, who is responsible for the exceptional lighting.

“The FAD awards are perhaps the greatest recognition that a work of architecture can receive at national level, both in terms of prestige and its convening power. Therefore, there is a huge level of satisfaction which is heightened by the fact that it is shared with Fagor Industrial”, claims Luis Zufiaur, designer and architect of the showroom.
